Beginning of Year Spanish Grammar Review

After the ups and downs of the last year and half, I wanted to provide my students with some resources they can use to review verb conjugations and tenses from last year.  While we still introduced a lot of the normal course themes, they just didn’t get the same in class practice with the tenses so they need some additional support.

The first site I’ve been recommending to them is  conjuguemos.  My department actually paid for the upgraded version of the site last year, so my students are familiar with the format and this year they have added even more games!  There are grammar, vocabulary and listening activities all housed in conjuguemos.  If you have the paid version you can even modify the grammar and vocabulary activities to include the exact verbs and words you want.  My students love to play the multi-player games, which they can access once they’ve joined a conjuguemos class and multiple students from the class are in the game at the same time.  Battleship is a particular favorite of theirs, and it is handy because you can play it with another student or against the computer.  Conjuguemos also easily integrates with Google Classroom for easy class lists!

The second site I’ve been liking is SpanishDict’s conjugation practice, which seems to be a recent addition to their site.  You can pick the tense, verb types and pronouns then it creates conjugation practices for you, it is super easy to use!  If you pre-select the settings and then share the link with your students, all they have to do is click “Start Drill” and they’ll get the exact practice you were looking for.  SpanishDict also has a great grammar guide to help explain different grammar topics.  They also have added a Google Classroom integrator so you can create assignments and activities for free!  It has been super cool to see the new things they have been coming out with.

The last site I use was created by a friend of mine, spanishspanish.com .  There are some free activities on the site or a subscription costs $10 a year.  He has created a variety of online worksheets you can assign to students as well as materials you can use to practice in class like bell ringer activities, verb practice cards and smartboard activities.  There are tons of activities ready and available to use.
